Flight Training/Simulator Flying (Not For Credit)

This course will take students through the primary flight training process, from pre-flight to mastering the maneuvers necessary to pass the Private Pilot check-ride. We will start with the basics, understanding how the airplane functions and is controlled with the primary and secondary flight controls. As students progress, they will gain an understanding of the instruments and controls in the cockpit, empowering them to navigate the skies confidently. By the end of the class, all students will be able to describe and use all the instruments and controls in the cockpit and be able to taxi and fly the traffic pattern at both controlled and non-controlled airports.

Model UN Bootcamp (Not For Credit)

Travel into the world of Model UN, U.S. politics, and global issues! Students will enhance their debate and leadership skills while exploring the globe with new friends. This Model UN Boot camp is packed with interactive MUN simulations on diverse topics, public speaking labs, fun trivia and improv games, and engaging lessons. The session will culminate with a mock committee where students will represent a country, deliver a compelling opening speech, engage in dynamic debates, and collaborate with peers to draft a resolution. By the end of the session, students will be inspired to make a difference in the world and ready to excel in MUN at their high school and beyond, into their college life.

SAT/ACT Test Prep Math – AM (Not For Credit)

This course equips students with the strategies, skills, and confidence needed to excel on both exams. In this fast-paced, results-driven boot camp, students will receive expert instruction in all components of the mathematics sections of the SAT and ACT. Our experienced instructor will guide students through essential test-taking strategies, time-management techniques, and detailed reviews of practice questions. Monday-Thursday will focus on targeted instruction and skill-building exercises. On Friday, students can test their skills with full-length, timed practice tests that simulate the actual SAT and ACT experience. Students will receive detailed analysis and feedback to continue their growth.

Math Section
– Algebra: Solving linear equations, working with inequalities, and understanding functions and their graphs.
– Problem-Solving and Data Analysis: Interpreting data from tables, charts, and graphs and solving word problems related to real-life scenarios.
– Advanced Math Concepts: Tackling quadratic equations, exponents, polynomials, and rational expressions.
– Geometry: Understanding the properties of shapes, including angles, circles, and coordinate geometry, along with geometric problem-solving techniques.
– Trigonometry: Basic trigonometric concepts and applications (for the SAT) and advanced trigonometric problem-solving (for the ACT).

This intensive boot camp is designed to provide students with the strategies, skills, and confidence needed to excel on both the SAT and ACT. For both exams, students will receive expert instruction in all components of the language arts and reading sections. The course will explore the differences between the SAT and ACT, including test-day strategies, time management techniques, and detailed practice question reviews.

Most class time will focus on hands-on practice and reading skills that extend beyond test preparation. Students will receive personalized analysis and feedback to support their growth. Classes will be held Monday through Thursday, with targeted instruction and skill-building exercises. On Fridays, students will take full-length, timed practice tests to simulate actual test-day conditions.

Language/Reading Section Topics:
– Language Usage/Mechanics: Punctuation, grammar, verb agreement, word/phrase replacement, and sentence structure.
– Rhetorical Skills: Identifying the author’s purpose and tone, choosing appropriate sentences and word placement, improving style and clarity.
– Production of Writing: Topic development, material relevance, organization, unity, and cohesion.

This week-long course explores the Japanese art form of Kintsugi, through 4 different areas of artistic expression: Photography, Digital Art & Animation, 2D- and 3D- Art. Kintsugi is based on the idea that embracing flaws and imperfections can make an object stronger and more beautiful. The technique encourages people to fix rather than discard objects, and to value them as part of their history. Curriculum will be enhanced with a trip to the Morikami Museum and guest presentations.
